Salisbury, Md. - The Lakewood BlueClaws exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to cruise to a 9-4 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Thursday night.

The Shorebirds scored first in the first inning. John Ruettiger, who went 3-for-4, led off with a double down the left field line. After a sacrifice bunt by Riley Hornback, Ty Kelly bounced out to third to score Ruettiger.

After notching just one hit against Jarret Martin over the first three innings, Lakewood came alive with seven hits and seven runs. Eleven batters came to the plate to help the BlueClaws build a 7-1 lead. Carlos Perdomo capped off the inning with a two-run double to the right field corner.

After an hour and two minute rain and lightning delay in the fourth inning, the Shorebirds added a run in the sixth inning on a Ruettiger single to score Michael Mooney.

In the top of the seventh, Anthony Hewitt hit a two-run homer to left field off reliever Luis Noel to increase the ead to 9-2.

In the seventh inning, Jacob Julius connected on his first home run with the Shorebirds this season.

The Shorebirds added one more run in the ninth on a Garabez Rosa flare single into shallow left-center field to score Julius to cut the deficit to 9-4.

Tyler Knigge earned the win for Lakewood while Martin was pinned with the loss for the Shorebirds.

The Shorebirds travel to Greensboro, N.C. for game one of the final road series of the season on Friday night. RHP Parker Bridwell is the scheduled starter for the Shorebirds.
