Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - For the second straight night a BlueClaws opponent scored all their runs in one inning, and for the second straight night Lakewood would struggle with runners in scoring position.

The BlueClaws (4-5) fell 3-2 to the Greensboro Grasshoppers (3-6) Friday night in their 2010 home opener at FirstEnergy Park. This is the first time this season Lakewood has dropped below .500.

Much like Thursday night in Hagerstown, the BlueClaws couldn't get the job done with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-11 and stranding seven.

Lakewood starter Brody Colvin (0-2) made it through five innings giving up three hits and three runs, all of them coming in the top of the third.

Edgar Olmos (1-0) struck out five in five innings for Greensboro, allowing two runs on five hits. The Grasshoppers also benefited from two strong performances out of their bullpen. Sandy Rosario allowed just one hit and struck out five in 2.1 innings of work, and Alejandro Ramos picked up his second save of the season.

The BlueClaws had the tying run on second in both the eighth and the ninth innings, but failed to get the runner home in both cases.

Tomorrow at 4:05 pm Jonathan Pettibone will look for his first win of the season. Curtis Peterson will get the start for Greensboro.
