AUGUSTA, Ga.- Augusta starter B.J. Salsbury tossed 7.0 strong innings to lead the GreenJackets to a 5-2 victory over the Charleston RiverDogs in front of 5,389 fans at Lake Olmstead Stadium Friday evening.

With the victory, Augusta improves to 7-2, while Charleston drops to 4-5.

Kyle Higashioka and Luke Murton launched solo home runs in the first inning off Salsbury for a quick 2-0 lead, but Salsbury (2-0) would allow just those two runs on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts in picking up his second win of the season.

Augusta responded with a run in the bottom of the first on a two-out RBI single by Chris Dominguez against starter Jose Ramirez to cut the deficit to 2-1. Ramirez took his second straight no-decision in 5.1 innings, surrendering two runs on five hits with a pair of walks and a career-high tying nine strikeouts.

The GreenJackets seized their first lead at 4-2 with a three-run sixth inning. Nick Liles laced a two-run double to right-centerfield off reliever Michael Solbach (0-1), then stole third with two outs and darted home on a throwing error by Higashioka.

Another run was added in the eighth against Charleston's Ryan Acosta on a RBI groundout by Liles.

Chris Gloor worked 0.2 innings of scoreless relief for Augusta, while Jason Jarvis recorded the final four outs for his third save of the year.

Murton finished 2-for-3 with his first SAL home run to lead Charleston's six-hit attack, while Dominguez and Tommy Joseph registered two hits each for Augusta.

Game two of the four-game series is set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Charleston plans to pitch right-hander Kelvin Perez (0-0, 1.35 ERA), while Augusta counters with northpaw Zack Wheeler (0-1, 81.00 ERA).
