
BlueClaws Fall 4-1 on Friday in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn scored twice in the fifth and twice in the eighth while holding the BlueClaws to a run on six hits and the Cyclones bested the BlueClaws 4-1 on Friday night at Maimonides Park.
The BlueClaws (1-4) have dropped two of the first three games in Brooklyn (3-2) with three more left in their six game series.
Jersey Shore scored first, as Nick Matera brought in DJ Stewart with an RBI single in the fourth inning. The Cyclones, however, responded with two in the fifth to take the lead. Nic Gaddis doubled off the left-centerfield wall to score both Jose Mena and Warren Saunders. Both runs were charged to Matt Russell (0-2), who took the loss, allowing two runs in four innings.
Brooklyn added two more in the eighth off Andrew Baker. JT Schwartz reached on a throwing error from third baseman Nicolas Torres allowing one to score and a throwing error on catcher Karl Ellison allowed another to cross. Both runs were unearned to Baker.
Brooklyn starter Junior Santos gave up one run in 3.2 innings of work. Jesus Vargas (1-0) threw three scoreless innings and earned the win. Justin Courtney got the last six outs to earn the save.
Baron Radcliff had two hits, a stolen bases, and a walk for Jersey Shore while Johan Rojas had a hit and his minor league leading eighth stolen base of the season. The BlueClaws lead all minor league clubs with 26 stolen bases on the season.
Jersey Shore starter Griff McGarry threw a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts in his season debut. Ethan Lindow (pictured) threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The teams will play a double-header on Saturday beginning at 12 pm, making up a game that was rained out on Thursday night. The BlueClaws return home to open a series with Asheville on Tuesday night.
