
'Dads Go Back-To-Back in Extras Loss

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads racked up 14 strikeouts on Friday night as the Crawdads fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods 3-2 in ten innings.
The 'Dads got the scoring started in the fourth as Thomas Saggese and Chris Seise hit back-to-back homeruns to give them a 2-0 lead.
Crawdads righty Owen White got the start for the 'Dads, tossing five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and a walk. He struck out eight. Josh Smith took over for White, adding another two shutout frames.
The Crawdads added on to their lead in the bottom of the sixth to pull ahead by three. Cristian Inoa and Trevor Hauver drew consecutive walks to put two runners on for the 'Dads. Seise hit a ball to short and a fielding error allowed all runners to advance and Seise to take first. Cody Freeman hit a groundball single to bring in Inoa to score.
Bowling Green scored three in the eighth to even the score. After a scoreless ninth, the game went into extras. The Hot Rods brought the designated runner on second in to score in the tenth to take a 4-3 lead. The 'Dads were unable to get a run in the bottom half of the inning to extend the game.
The series will wrap up tomorrow with a doubleheader. It is also Backwards Night and a replica road jersey giveaway for the first 1,000 fans thanks to 3 Labs Property Inspection. The giveaway will start when gates open at 3pm. It is also the final night of the Telco Community Credit Union Reading Program and kids who participated in the program can take their bookmarks to the ticket office for free tickets. Game one will be at 4pm with the second game starting 30 minutes after the first game but no earlier than 7pm. Both games will be 7 innings.
