LAKEWOOD, NJ - With Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers on hand for an autograph signing, both starting pitchers delivered stellar outings. Unfortunately for Lakewood, Luis Martinez gave up two hits over eight scoreless innings as Kannapolis topped the BlueClaws 1-0 on Monday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Tyler Viza, who fell to 4-6, went all nine for the BlueClaws, allowing one run on six hits, becoming the first BlueClaws pitcher to throw nine innings since Lisalverto Bonilla did it on July 6th, 2011. Martinez, who improved to 4-9, gave up two hits and walked just one over the longest outing of his career.

Kannapolis scored the game's lone run the seventh inning on a two-out RBI triple by Toby Thomas. The BlueClaws got the lead-off man, Jiandido Tromp, on base in the eighth, but he was stranded at second base.

Matt Cooper threw a scoreless ninth for his 10th save.

The loss drops the BlueClaws to 19-12/52-47 and snapped their three-game winning streak. Kannapolis improves to 16-15/51-49 on the year.

Kyle Martin and Jiandido Tromp had the only two BlueClaws hits, the first time they've been two-hit this season.

The series with Kannapolis finishes on Tuesday morning at 11:05 am. RHP Ranfi Casimiro (6-5) starts for Lakewood against RHP Yency Almonte (7-4).
