BlueClaws continue their longest homestand ever

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lexington Legends will be the first of three teams to visit Lakewood over the next two weeks when they come to town on Friday. The BlueClaws are beginning the longest homestand in team history at 7:05 Friday night against the Houston Astros affiliate. To celebrate the start of the homestand, the BlueClaws will have a fireworks show at the conclusion of the game presented by Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood.

As another way to celebrate the 12-game homestand, the BlueClaws will kickoff a moustache growing contest on Friday. Members of the BlueClaws front office, fans and players will be invited to participate, with "best moustaches" being voted on at the conclusion of the homestand. Any fan wishing to participate must be clean-shaven and in FirstEnergy Park on the night of the 11th for an initial photograph. All participants will then be given two tickets to the final game of the homestand for the final picture and judging.

Show up early to Saturday's 7:05 game to see the Red Bull TNT Freestyle Motocross Show outside the ballpark. Also, the first 2,000 fans will receive full- sized baseball bats courtesy of Lomurro, Davison, Eastman & Munoz.

The Cat in the Hat will be at the ballpark on Sunday at 5:05 for NJEA night. The famous Dr. Suess character will be available for photo opportunities before and during the game on the concourse at FirstEnergy Park. As kids get set to head back to school, NJEA and the BlueClaws will give the first 2,000 fans, under the age of 17, new backpacks.

On Monday, the BlueClaws welcome one of the world's most recognized mascots, the Famous Chicken. The Famous Chicken has been entertaining fans for over 30 years and The Sporting News named him as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Sports of the 20th Century. Fresh off of his gold medal performance at the X Games, Scotty Cranmer of Jackson will be at FirstEnergy Park. Cranmer will be available to sign autographs and will throw out a first pitch before the game. Monday's game is scheduled for 7:05 and the first 2,000 fans will be given seat cushions thanks to New Jersey Resources.

Tuesday, the BlueClaws welcome the Hagerstown Suns to town. The Suns are the Single-A affiliate of the New York Mets. This is your chance to collect a memento from one of the best teams Lakewood has ever seen. Get your 2006 BlueClaws baseball card set as you enter the gates to the 7:05 game while supplies last thanks to Commerce Bank.

Elvis Night, presented by myClosingSpace.com, at FirstEnergy Park will be August 16 when the BlueClaws take on the Suns at 7:05. Come dressed as "The King" to celebrate this fun evening at the ballpark. Elvis impersonators will be in attendance and prizes will be given away. Courtesy of TravelSmiths, Inc., one lucky fan will win a trip for two to Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. The trip includes airfare, a two night stay at Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel and tickets to many attractions around Memphis.
