BlueClaws Blow Open Close Game with Five Run 8th in 9-3 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws blew open a one run game with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and went on to top Hagerstown 9-3 on Tuesday night, in a game where all nine starters had at least one hit, at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws sent 10 to the plate in the eighth, with a Carlos Duran RBI double starting the scoring which also included a two-run Zach Coppola single, an RBI singles by Damek Tomscha and Deivi Grullon.

Lakewood has now won five straight home games and two in a row to start this series, improving to 26-38 on the year while Hagerstown falls to 40-25.

Zach Coppola, Jiandido Tromp, Damek Tomscha, Jan Hernandez, Brendon Hayden, and Carlos Duran all had two hits for Lakewood wile Duran drove in three.

Hagerstown jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Harold Arauz and the BlueClaws in the second inning. Austin Davidson's RBI single opened the scoring by bringing home Matthew Page, who led off the inning with a walk. Davidson advanced to second on a walk, stole third, and scored on a wild pitch.

The BlueClaws got on the board in the third when Jiandido Tromp doubled off the left field wall to drive in Brendon Hayden and cut Hagerstown's lead to 2-1.

Lakewood took the lead in the bottom of the fourth, getting a run on a SAC fly by Brendon Hayden and two more on a two-run single by Carlos Duran to break the 2-2 tie.

Suns starter Pedro Avila (5-4) gave up four runs/three earned in five innings to take the loss.

After Jake Waguespack gave up a run in the eighth, he threw a scoreless ninth and earned his fourth save of the year.

The series concludes on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Franklyn Kilome (1-5, 4.96) starts for Lakewood against RHP Jefry Rodriguez (5-2, 2.89).
