Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Two days into his Blue Wahoos career, Beau Mills is looking like a hired assassin against the Lookouts. The Pensacola first baseman had another big day at the plate, hitting a game-winning homer in the top of the ninth to lead his team to an 8-7 win over the Lookouts in Sunday afternoon action at AT&T Field

Pensacola starting pitcher Daniel Corcino had a rather ominous beginning to his afternoon. After beginning the bottom of the first with walks to Rafael Ynoa and Luis Nunez, both runners advanced on a wild pitch by Corcino. The troubles continued for the young righty, as he walked Blake Smith and missed the catcher's throwback, which allowed Ynoa to score. Corcino, however, was able to settle down and record three outs without any additional runs being scored.

Corcino ran into some more issues in the fourth frame. After recording two quick outs, Matt Wallach drew a walk and advanced to third on a subsequent single from Lookouts starting pitcher Aaron Miller. With runners on the corners, Ynoa nailed a double to right, scoring Wallach and Miller in the process. Ynoa was tagged out at third on the play, but the Lookouts now held a 3-0 lead.

The Pensacola bats finally broke through in the sixth inning. Brodie Greene led off the rally with a double and advanced to third on a David Vidal single. Miller then walked Brian Peacock to load the bases, which led to his dismissal from the game. Relief pitcher Steven Ames entered the game and was promptly greeted by a Mills ground-rule double. Ames then threw a wild pitch, which allowed Peacock to slide home safely on a very close play at the plate. With the game tied, Ames hunkered down and effectively stopped the hemorrhaging by recording the necessary three outs to get out of the inning.

With the game tied, the Lookouts wasted very little time in reclaiming the lead. Brahiam Maldonado led off with a single, advanced to third on a Jake Lemmerman double, and scored on a single from Matt Wallach. Kyle Russell then entered the game as a pinch hitter and completed his objective by collecting an RBI single. Ynoa rounded-out the four-run inning with an RBI single to give the Lookouts a 7-3 lead.

The scoring trend continued into the seventh, as Pensacola chipped away at the Lookouts' lead by producing two runs on an RBI double by Greene and RBI single from Peacock.

Down by two runs in the ninth, Mills, once again, came through in the clutch for the Blue Wahoos by blasting a three-run shot off of Logan Bawcom (2-3) to give Pensacola their first lead of the game.

Justin Freeman pitched a perfect ninth for the Blue Wahoos to notch his fourth save of the season.

Chris Manno (1-1), who pitched the eighth inning for Pensacola, was credited with the win.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Pensacola Blue Wahoos will wrap-up their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
