Mobile BayBears News Release
Mobile - The Mobile BayBears walked-off with a 4-3 win over the Montgomery Biscuits in 12 innings at Hank Aaron Stadium Saturday night. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning, Matt Davidson hit a groundball to the left side of the infield for Biscuits third baseman Greg Sexton. The third baseman fielded the ball and elected to throw to second for the final out, but Evan Frey beat the throw, reaching second safely and allowing Wladimir Sutil to score from third for the winning run.
The BayBears began the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 3-1, and Davidson led off the inning with a base hit. Biscuits RHP Kirby Yates then walked Marc Krauss, putting runners at first and second with no outs. Dan Kaczrowski laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners over and Davidson crossed home plate in the next at-bat with an RBI ground out from Yazy Arbelo. Krauss tied the game at 3-3 on a wild pitch from Yates, and with the two run rally in bottom half of the inning, the BayBears sent the game into extra innings.
LHP David Holmberg settled for a no decision despite only allowing three runs on seven hits over eight full innings of work. The BayBears bullpen backed Holmberg's efforts in the late innings, as Yonata Ortega, Matt Gorgen and Bryan Woodall combined to pitch four shutout innings. Woodall was credited with his third win of the season after working a perfect inning in the top half of the 12th.
With Mobile winning two of the first three meetings in the five game series, the BayBears and Biscuits continue with game four on Sunday at 2:05 PM. RHP Derek Eitel (6-4) will take the mound for Mobile. Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew will join Mobile on a Major League rehab assignment. As with all BayBears home games, one hour prior to first pitch, any fan who purchases a ticket to a BayBears home game that day, can enter the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum for free!
