Huntsville Rallies in Ninth to Even Series with Generals

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 24, 2012) - The Generals (44-30, 2-2) fell to Huntsville on Sunday afternoon at Pringles Park, 5-2, despite outhitting Huntsville 9-8. RHP Brandon Maurer tossed seven quality innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out eight in a no decision. The series is now tied 2-2.

The Stars once again got their offense going early with Lee Haydel, Josh Prince, and Scooter Gennett all reaching on singles to start the game. Haydel scored on Gennett's hit, and Prince later came home as Kentrail Davis reached base on an error.

Chih-Hsien Chaing (2x4, .236) led off the bottom of the fifth with a single. Jackson was then able to tie the game on a 2-run home run from Chris Pettit, his third of the year.

Huntsville took the lead back in the ninth inning on a 2-run double to center by Lee Haydel, who now has 11 RBIs on the season. Josh Prince drove in Haydel with a 2-out single to left, making the score 5-2.

RHP Jonathan Arias (0-2, 18.00) took the loss after giving up three runs in the ninth inning. Huntsville's Darren Byrd (2-2, 3.07) took the win after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Jesus Sanchez pitched his way to his ninth save of the season.

The Generals will play the rubber match of this five-game series against Huntsville on Monday. First pitch set for 12:05 p.m. RHP Taijuan Walker (4-3, 3.79) will start for Jackson against RHP Jimmy Nelson for the Stars. Monday will be Super Splash Day at Pringles Park.
