WILMINGTON, Del. (May 4, 2015) - The Winston-Salem Dash scored a run and loaded the bases in the ninth, but their rally fell short in a 4-3 defeat Monday at the hands of Wilmington Blue Rocks at Frawley Stadium.

Down 4-2 to start the ninth, Keon Barnum led off for the Dash (11-13) and doubled on a bouncer down the right field line. Chris Jacobs walked and was replaced by pinch-runner Nolan Earley to put runners on first and second.

An Omar Narvaez sacrifice bunt went wrong, as the Blue Rocks (13-11) were able to force out Barnum at third. A wild pitch by Wilmington closer Robinson Yambati pushed both runners into scoring position, but Nick Basto fanned for the second out. A Cleuluis Rondon walk loaded the bases before Yambati issued another free pass to Ethan Wilson to force in a run. However, with the go-ahead run on third, Adam Engel struck out looking on a borderline pitch to end the contest.

Wilmington scored two runs in the second against Dash starter Jace Fry (1-4). Three consecutive one-out singles by Dominique Taylor, Logan Moon and Kenny Diekroeger plated the game's first run, and a Daniel Rockett sacrifice fly completed the scoring in the inning.

The Dash (11-13) cut into the lead immediately. Rondon singled to leadoff the top of the third, and Wilson's first hit since August 30th, 2010 advanced him to third. Engel bounced into a double play, but Rondon scored to get the Dash on the board.

With the score still 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Barnum doubled to right, moved to third on Jacobs' fly out and then scored to tie the game on Narvaez's sacrifice fly.

In the top of the fifth, Zane Evans cranked a solo home run to give the Blue Rocks the lead for good. Wilmington added to its lead on Rockett's first home run in the sixth, making it 4-2 Blue Rocks.

Fry was finished after five frames, taking the loss by surrendering three runs on nine hits. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Meanwhile, Wilmington starter Eric Skoglund (2-1) bounced back from those runs in the third and fourth by firing blanks in the fifth and sixth to earn the win. In six innings, Skoglund gave up two runs on seven hits without walking a batter.

After losing three out of four in Delaware, Winston-Salem will head to the second leg of its seven-game road trip. The Dash's three-game set at Frederick begins with Robinson Leyer (0-3, 3.60 ERA) on the mound. Pregame coverage is available on wsdash.com/broadcast at 6:45 p.m. and the TuneIn Radio app. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Dash return home next Friday, May 8, for a five-game, four-day series with division rival Myrtle Beach. The fun begins Friday at 7 p.m. with postgame fireworks before a doubleheader on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. For tickets to the Dash's next homestand, visit wsdash.com.
