Frederick Keys News Release

WILMINGTON, DE. - The Frederick Keys (29-42, 0-2) were held in check as the Wilmington Blue Rocks (46-25, 2-0) shutout the offense 7-0 on Friday night. The Keys were held to just two hits as they dropped their eighth straight game, tying a season-high losing streak set earlier this month. With the loss at Frawley Stadium, the Keys have now lost 15-straight road games, resetting a franchise record 14-straight back in 2017.

Brenan Hanifee (4-7) struggled in the first inning. Daniel Fajardo erased a lead-off walk by gunning out a runner trying to take second base, but the next two batters tallied singles to put runners at the corners. That led way to Dennichur Carrasco's double that cleared the bases to give Wilmington an early 2-0 lead.

Hanifee needed just 15 pitches to get through the second and third innings but hit a wall in the fourth.

He allowed the first three runners to reach to load the bases and Nick Pratto singled home a run to make it 3-0. With no-outs in the inning, Cristian Perez hit a line drive into right field and Zach Jarrett laid out on a diving catch that prevented a run from scoring. Hanifee then got a force out at home to get two-outs but with the bases still loaded, Rudy Martin got ahold of one and crushed it to dead-center field, clearing the bases to make it a 6-0 game.

Hanifee allowed one more run on a sacrifice fly. He lasted six innings, giving up eight hits and seven runs while walking three. It was the most amount of runs and hits allowed by Hanifee since April 23.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Martinez was outstanding, tossing six scoreless innings striking out six and walking three.

The Keys and Blue Rocks return to action on Saturday, June 22. LHP Cameron Bishop (0-6, 5.90) will start for Frederick opposite LHP Daniel Tillo (4-6, 5.23). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm. Fans can listen to the game at frederickkeys.com or on the TuneIn app with pregame coverage starting at 5:50pm.
