Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that Toronto Blue Jays RHP AARON SANCHEZ will join the Herd on a Major League injury rehab assignment and will start for Buffalo on Thursday, July 16 against the Columbus Clippers at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.).
Sanchez, 23, was placed on the disabled list on June 14 with a lat strain and has made a pair of rehab starts on his way back to the Major Leagues: July 7 for rookie-level GCL Blue Jays (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, BB, SO) and July 11 for Single-A Dunedin (2.2 IP, 3 H, R, 2 BB, 2 SO). Toronto's 1st round pick in the 2010 First Year Player Draft was 5-4 with a 3.55 ERA in 11 starts for the Blue Jays this season. He allowed three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his big league starts the season.
Sanchez rocketed up the Blue Jays system in 2014, beginning the year at Double-A New Hampshire before making his big league debut for Toronto in late July. In eight games and six starts for the Bisons, Sanchez was 0-3 with a 4.19 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 34.1 innings of work.
