Blue Jackets Return Smith, Recall Skille; J.F. Jacques Signed

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Tuesday that the Columbus Blue Jackets have returned goaltender Jeremy Smith on loan to the club and recalled forward Jack Skille. Springfield also has released Jean-Francois Jacques from his Professional Try-Out (PTO) agreement and signed the veteran to an American Hockey League Standard Players Contract, and recalled defenseman Thomas Larkin from the ECHL's Evansville IceMen.

In 15 appearances for Springfield this season, Smith is 11-3-1 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .908 save percentage. His 11 wins rank third in the American Hockey League. The Dearborn, Michigan native was recalled by the Blue Jackets Friday, December 13 but did not appear in a game.

Skille returns to Columbus for the third time in five days. He has appeared in seven games with the Blue Jackets, totaling two goals and a +2 rating. In six games with the Falcons this season, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound winger has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) and a +1 rating.

Jacques has played in 11 games this season with the Falcons, posting three points (two goals, one assist) and nine penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 231-pound left wing signed a PTO with Springfield October 16. A veteran of 166 career NHL games and 272 career AHL games, Jacques played 46 games with Springfield between the 2007-08 and 2008-09 campaigns as a member of the Edmonton Oilers organization.

Larkin returns to the club after being reassigned to Evansville Monday. The Cocquio Trevisago, Italy native has appeared in 19 games with the IceMen, totaling nine points (zero goals, nine assists), 42 penalty minutes and a +6 rating.

The first-place Falcons prepare for back-to-back road tests this weekend - Friday, December 20 at the Providence Bruins and Saturday, December 21 at the Hartford Wolf Pack.
