Blue Jackets recall Sarno from Crunch

Syracuse, NY (January 8, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have added center Peter Sarno to their roster on emergency recall. Sarno is expected to join the Blue Jackets in time for tonight's game against the Phoenix Coyotes at Glendale Arena.

Sarno, 26, has tallied nine goals and six assists for 15 points with four penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 13 games with Syracuse this season. He has spent five of his six professional seasons in the AHL and has registered 78 goals 216 assists and 227 penalty minutes in 377 career games. In 2003-04, he had a career-high 16 goals, 66 assists, 53 penalty minutes and was +11 in 80 games with the Manitoba Moose.

Sarno was Edmonton's sixth pick, 141st overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2003-04 and scored 1 goal with two penalty minutes and was +2 in six games. A native of Toronto, Ontario, he played three seasons of major junior hockey with Windsor and Sarnia of the Ontario Hockey League and registered 90 goals, 244 assists and 126 penalty minutes in 198 games from 1996-99. In 1998-99, he racked up a career-high 37 goals, 93 assists with 49 penalty minutes and was +32 in 68 games with Sarnia.
