Philadelphia - Matt Ellison scored three times to lead the Philadelphia Phantoms (15-21-0-3) to a 4-2 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters (14-20-1-4) at the Wachovia Spectrum Sunday evening.

The two squads exchanged first period tallies around the midway point of the period. Keith Aucoin knotted the score at 1-1 with his 15th tally of the season at 12:12. Krys Kolanos assisted on the tally to keep his scoring streak going at three games. The Phantoms added a pair of power play goals by Matt Ellison in the final four minutes of the period to lift the home team to a 3-1 advantage through 20 minutes.

Outshot 12-9 in the second period, the Monsters were unable to find the back of the net and chip away at the deficit. Goaltenders Vitaly Kolesnik for Lowell and Rejean Beauchemin for Philadelphia held down their respective forts through the middle stanza.

The Lock Monsters trimmed the lead to just one at 9:01 of the third on a power play. Mike Zigomanis notched his second goal in as many games to make it 3-2 Phantoms. Danny Richmond recorded his second assist of the game by setting up Zigomanis for a one-timer on the man advantage. Later in the period while on another of their eight power plays, the Monsters surrendered a shorthanded tally to thwart any comeback. Ellison completed the hat trick at 15:53 to make it 4-2 and that would be the final score. Both teams ended up 2-for-8 on the power play.
