
Blue Jackets Recall Andrew Bodnarchuk

CLEVELAND - Fresh off a 3-2 road win over the Iowa Wild on Friday, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters announced Saturday that veteran defenseman and assistant captain Andrew Bodnarchuk was recalled by the Columbus Blue Jackets for the first time this season. Selected by the Boston Bruins with the 128th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Draft, Bodnarchuk supplied two goals, eight points, ten penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 14 appearances for the Monsters this season. In his career, the 5'11", 196 lb. left-handed shooter contributed two penalty minutes and a -2 rating in five NHL appearances for Boston during the 2009-10 season.
A 27 year-old native of Drumheller, Alberta, Bodnarchuk logged 32 goals, 143 points, 479 penalty minutes and a +64 rating in 486 career AHL appearances spanning parts of eight seasons with the Providence Bruins, Manchester Monarchs and the Monsters and helped Manchester claim the 2015 Calder Cup as AHL Champions.
Prior to his professional career, Bodnarchuk posted 32 goals, 123 points, 321 penalty minutes and a +14 rating in 196 QMJHL appearances for the Halifax Mooseheads spanning parts of three seasons from 2005 to 2008.
