St. John's IceCaps News Release
ST. JOHN'S, NL - Overtime was need for a second straight game but it was the Syracuse Crunch who came away victorious on this night, taking a 2-1 victory from the St. John's IceCaps at Mile One Centre.
Matt Taormina snapped a shot past Zach Fucale at 3:03 of a back-and-forth overtime period to give the Crunch a series split. St. John's won 4-3 Friday night.
Fucale was solid in goal for the IceCaps, stopping 32-of-34 shots. Gabriel Dumont scored the lone goal for St. John's in the second period, his third of the season. Jeff Tambellini replied just over a minute later for Syracuse to even the score.
Overall it was the fourth straight overtime game for the IceCaps, who also went past regulation in both games last weekend vs. the Toronto Marlies. St. John's remains unbeaten in regulation at home, with a record of 6-0-3-1 for a 10-game point streak at Mile One.
