
Blue Jackets Assign Center Kevin Stenlund to Monsters

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Friday that the Blue Jackets assigned center Kevin Stenlund to the Monsters. In 43 appearances for HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) this season, Stenlund posted 7-15-22 with 28 penalty minutes and a +4 rating.
A 6'4", 210 lb., right-handed native of Huddinge, Sweden, Stenlund, 21, was selected by Columbus in the second round (58th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets on May 23, 2017. In parts of four SHL seasons from 2015-18 with HV71, Stenlund provided 22-23-45 with 66 penalty minutes and a +4 rating in 151 appearances and helped HV71 claim the 2017 SHL Championship. Stenlund added 1-3-4 in three career appearances in Sweden's Second Division (the Allsvenskan) and added 25-47-72 with 75 penalty minutes and a +17 rating in 85 career games played for HV71 J20 in the Swedish junior ranks (SuperElit).
