SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Oklahoma City Blue (15-18) fell to the Memphis Hustle (24-9), 120-119 on Thursday morning.
The Blue entered the fourth quarter trailing by nine points but outscored the Hustle in the final frame, 33-25. A steal and layup from Myke Henry with 1:06 left in the game trimmed the deficit to one point, but Oklahoma City wouldn't score again until the final second of the game, giving Memphis the win.
Abdul Gaddy led Oklahoma City with 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting, including 10 points in the fourth quarter, to go along with a game-high-tying seven assists.
Oklahoma City scored the first bucket of the game, but fell behind quickly, trailing by as many as 24 points in the first half. The Blue would go on to outscore the Hustle in the second half, 65-47, behind 18 points from Gaddy, 13 points from Markel Brown and 11 points from DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell.
Akoon-Purcell finished with 19 points and nine rebounds while Brown contributed 15 points and five assists, as Oklahoma City's bench outscored Memphis' 56-37.
The Blue narrowly won the rebounding margin, grabbing 53 boards to the Hustle's 52. Kadeem Jack finished with a team-high 11 rebounds and 16 points for his second consecutive double-double, while two-way player Kevin Hervey narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Memphis was led by Shaq Buchanan with 28 points and 10 rebounds and Ahmad Caver with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting.
Oklahoma City returns home for a two-game homestand starting with a matchup against the Stockton Kings on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Cox Convention Center.
