Oklahoma City Blue News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 118-97, on Tuesday at the Cox Convention Center. Mitch McGary, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, posted 12 points and nine rebounds.

Dakari Johnson led the Blue with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go with seven rebounds. Talib Zanna recorded his eighth double-double in the past nine games with 15 points and 12 rebounds while Dwight Buycks scored 12 points with four assists. Dane Miller led the bench with 15 points and five boards.

The Blue shot 50.0 percent from the field in the opening quarter to jump out to a 26-22 lead, scoring 22 points in the paint in the frame. Rio Grande Valley outscored the Blue 35-23 in the second quarter to head into the half with a seven point lead. The Vipers led for the entirety of the second half.

"At the start of the game we had a lot of shots at the rim and in the paint, which is what we wanted to get," said Blue Interim Head Coach Jarell Christian. "RGV carried the tempo the rest of the game. We didn't maintain the pace we wanted offensively and didn't do the little things on defense."

Oklahoma City (19-29) pulled down 58 rebounds, including 22 off the offensive glass.

Rio Grande Valley (27-21) was led by Raphiael Putney with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

The Blue will close out its 2015-16 home schedule against the Vipers on Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets for the home finale are available at OklahomaCityBlue.com.
