Blue Crabs Fall in Their First Road Game of the Year to the Barnstormers

(Lancaster, PA., May 1, 2015)---The Blue Crabs took the lead early, but were unable to hold on as they fall to the Lancaster Barnstormers In game one of a three game set by the final of 4-2.

Southern Maryland continued their momentum from the night before scoring two early runs. In the top of the first, Antone DeJesus led the ballgame off with his first solo homerun of the year. In the top of the second, Zach Wilson led things off with a single and later advanced to second and third on two wild pitches. Two batters later Casey Frawley came up to the plate and banged out a single to score Wilson from third.

The Barnstormers got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Yusuke Kajimoto led off the inning with a walk. Tyler Bortnick then doubled to score Kajimoto from first. Blake Gailen then switched places with Bortnick by doubling and scoring Tyler. Lancaster then went on to score two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. David Cooper led off the inning with a single. The next hitter Keith Castillo homered to give the Barstormers a 4-2 lead, and they would never look back.

After giving up two early runs, Left-hander Matt Rogers settled in nicely going six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and striking out a batter. Blue Crabs starter Gaby Hernandez suffered his first loss of the season going six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking two. David Cooper went 2-4 with a run scored for Lancaster, while the bullpen of Andrelczyk, Jackson, and Urquidez each pitched a scoreless inning.

Game two of the three game set will take place tomorrow in Lancaster. First pitch set for 7:00. RHP Brian Baker (0-0, 1.80) will make his second start of the season, while RHP Chuckie Fick (0-0, 1.80) will take the hill for Lancaster.
