(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 1, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish announced today that they have acquired J.P. Ramirez from Laredo of the American Association for a player to be named later. In a corresponding roster move, Prentice Redman has been traded to Long Island of the Atlantic League, also for a player to be named later.

"J.P. has proven to be solid at the plate and in the outfield," says Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "He will definitely add some strength to our lineup this season."

Ramirez joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and eighth of professional baseball. Last year, the outfielder played in 96 games for Laredo of the American Association, collecting a .304 batting average with 42 extra-base hits, 62 RBI, 57 runs scored and 11 home runs.

He spent five seasons within the Nationals organization before joining the independent ranks in 2013 with Sioux Falls of the American Association. In 595 career minor league games, Ramirez owns a .281 batting average with 49 home runs, 299 RBI, and 288 runs scored.
