HIDALGO, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue (28-22) beat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (29-21), 114-99, to close out the regular season on Saturday night.
The Blue led 63-58 at halftime but the two teams played a tight third quarter, with Oklahoma City only leading by four heading into the fourth quarter. Two-way player Daniel Hamilton scored seven points in the final frame, as the Blue outscored the Vipers 29-18.
Hamilton finished just short of a triple-double with 13 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Darius Morris led the way for Rio Grande Valley with 26 points.
After the first quarter, Oklahoma City trailed 26-23. The Vipers opened the game strong and led by as many as eight before an 8-2 run, punctuated by a jump shot from Michael Carrera, trimmed the deficit.
The Blue continued the run into the second quarter, scoring 40 points behind 15 points from Bryce Alford on 5-7 shooting from beyond the arc. The league leader in three-pointers made, Alford finished with a team-high 24 points.
Oklahoma City tallied 11 steals to the Vipers' six, behind Justin Leon's career-high five steals. Leon was one of six in double figures for the Blue, contributing 16 points and nine rebounds.
