Blizzard Update: After defeating Chicago 63-36 in Green Bay on April 13, the Blizzard knew they would face a determined Slaughter team in Chicago last week. The Blizzard fell to 0-3 all-time in Chicago with a 45-42 loss to the Slaughter. Running back La'Ron Council continued his success on the ground with four rushing touchdowns. He tied a Blizzard single game record with the four scores. The previous week, Council broke the Blizzard record for most rushing yards in a single game with 104. The Blizzard took a 42-38 lead on Council's touchdown with 1:16 remaining in the game. With under a minute to play and the Slaughter facing 4th down and 14 from their own 22 yard line, quarterback Juice Williams evaded the Blizzard rush and threw a pass to Shatone Powers for 14 yards and a first down. Two plays later, Williams hit Powers in the end zone to put the Slaughter ahead 45-42. The Blizzard had 21 seconds and a timeout remaining, needing only a field goal to tie. On the first play, quarterback Donovan Porterie dropped back to pass and lofted a pass down the middle of the field that was intercepted by Chicago defensive back Christopher Rodgers to seal the Blizzard's fate.

Blizzard defensive back B.J. Hill grabbed his seventh interception of the year in Chicago and had eight total tackles. Aaron Moore had two interceptions and seven total tackles. Linebacker Trevor Glomski led the defense with 12 tackles.

Edge Update: Bloomington went through a lot of changes this off-season. The changes include a new team nickname, the return of Kenton Carr as the Head Coach, and a former assistant coach is the new quarterback. The Bloomington Extreme have been members of the IFL since 2009 and changed their nickname to the Edge due to a sponsorship. Carr was the head coach of Bloomington for two and a half years before being fired midway through the 2010 season for a 3-5 start. He has his team off to a 7-1 start and a game and a half ahead of the Blizzard in the United Conference standings. Quarterback Dusty Burk leads the Edge offense. Burk came out of retirement after ending his playing career in 2009. He led Bloomington in passing yards in each of the franchise's first three seasons and amassed career marks of 7,270 yards and 129 touchdowns in 40 games. His 2008 totals of 50 TDs, 2,871 yards and 261 completions are team records.

After losing their season opener in Chicago, the Edge have won seven straight games. Last week, the Edge topped Reading 46-39 in Bloomington. The winning streak is the longest in franchise history. Burk passed for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Ricardo Lenhart was his favorite target with 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pete Christofilakos kicked six field goals in the game and was named the IFL Special Teams Player of the week for his efforts.

Series: The series is tied 2-2. The two Blizzard victories were at the Resch Center. The most recent was a 61-51 win on March 18, 2011.
