Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The kickoff of the Green Bay Blizzard game on Saturday April 21, 2007 in Albany has been moved from 4:00 p.m. EST to 7:00 p.m. EST, 6:00 p.m. CST. The game time was moved to accommodate a live broadcast on the b2 Network which can be accessed via the b2 link on the Green Bay Blizzard website (www.greenbayblizzard.com). Following their 35-32 home opener win against the Manchester Wolves last Friday, the Blizzard (0-1 in the Midwest Division, 1-1 overall) take to the road against the Albany Conquest (0-2 in the East Division, 0-2 overall).
The Blizzard have climbed back into the weekly af2 Coaches Poll. Each week during the season af2 coaches will vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16 on a ballot. After falling out of the Coaches Poll Top 16 following their week one loss, the Blizzard are back in the poll at the rank of 13th. A complete list of the Coaches Poll Top 16 can be found on the af2 website.
The Blizzard look to advance their current winning streak to two games and continue to climb in the Coaches Poll with a win this Saturday in Albany. While the Blizzard finished the season 10-6 last year, earning First Place in the East Division, Albany struggled in 2006 recording only five wins in 16 games, finishing sixth in the East Division. In their last meeting Green Bay defeated Albany 56-51 in Albany on 5/27/2006. The all-time series between the two teams is dead even at three wins a piece. The Blizzard seem to be back to their winning ways this year following their week three win against Manchester, while Albany continues to struggle losing to both Mahoning Valley and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton thus far in 2007. The Blizzard pride themselves on a strong defense that currently ranks fourth in the af2 in Total Defense, giving up only 190.0 yards per game. The Blizzard face a formidable challenge this week as they face Albany's quarterback Ryan Hart who is currently second in the af2 in passing yards per game, fourth in pass rating with a rating of 121.3, and seventh in total offense with 602 yards so far. Defensive back Ronnie Amadi will be a key factor in the Blizzard's plans to shut down Ryan Hart's air assault, since Amadi is tied for first in the league for passes defended with eight passes broken up and one interception.
Come join the Blizzard when they return home on Friday, April 27 against the Quad City Steamwheelers. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. CST at U.S. Cellular Field inside the Resch Center. The game will feature the University of Wisconsin Badger Marching Band, presented by Piggly Wiggly and Sargento Cheese, as they perform at half-time and their famous "Fifth Quarter."
