New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, N.Y.) - Bobby Blevins pitched six strong innings, allowing only two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk, while striking out seven, but it wasn't enough as New Jersey squeaked past Rockland 2-1 Saturday evening at Provident Bank Park. The Boulders have now lost 12 games in a row.

The Jacakls scored each of their two runs in the top of the third inning, first on a run-scoring double by Angel Berroa, his fifth RBI of the series. Berroa then moved to third on a pass ball, which was followed by a walk to Bryan Sabatella. Sabatella then took off for second, and Billy Alvino's throw beat the runner to the bag, but the ball was dropped by Ryan Mollica, which allowed Berroa to sneak home for the second run.

Rockland was unable to recover, only mustering a Ryan Scoma fourth inning solo home run off New Jersey starter Mike Ness. Ness (11-2), acquired last week from Newark, only gave up three hits and two walks in his seven innings.

Keith Brachold went 0-3 with a walk and remains four homers shy of Eddie Lantigua's single season home run record of 31, which was set back in 2005. Brachold needs five homers in eight games to break the mark.

Rockland looks to snap its losing streak Sunday at 5 p.m. with Gustavo Chacin on the hill. Tickets are still available but they're going fast - to catch all the fun and action, call 845-364-0009, visit the Provident Bank Park box office, or click "Tickets" here on Rocklandboulders.com.
