Kamloops Blazers News Release
The Kamloops Blazers went 1-2-0-0 in their three games last weekend and remain in 8th place in the Western Conference: 2 points behind Seattle and Chilliwack for a tie for 6th and 15 ahead of Prince George for 8th place. Here's what happened over the past seven days:
SPO-6, KAM-2: Ondrej Roman's second goal of the game midway through the third period gave the Chiefs a 4-2 lead and added two more on the powerplay in a 6-2 win over the Blazers on Wednesday in Spokane. Roman opened the scoring on a first-period penalty shot with Justin McCrae adding a pair for a 3-0 lead early in the second. Jimmy Bubnick then converted on a 2-on-1 with Brady Calla banging in a goalmouth rebound to cut the lead to 3-2 after two. Final shots were 39-28 Chiefs with Justin Leclerc taking the loss and Dustin Tokarski picking up the win. The Blazers were 0-for-5 on the PP while the Chiefs were 3-for-5.
TRI-4, KAM-1: The Americans scored 3 goals in the first period and outshot the Blazers 18-4 in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 4-1 win over the Blazers last night in Kennewick. Shaun Vey, Petr Stoklasa, and Colton Yellow Horn stajed the Ams to the first period lead with Adam Hughesman adding a second period goal for a 4-0 lead. Nick Ross scored the Blazers' lone goal - on a second-period powerplay with assists to Scott Wasden and Kenton Dulle - to round out the scoring. Shots were 40-22 Ams on the night with James Priestner busy in the loss and Chet Pickard steady in victory. The Blazers were 1-for-4 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK.
KAM-2, CWK-1: Justin Leclerc made 29 saves - 13 in the final period - as the Blazers posted a 2-1 win over Chilliwack on Saturday night at ISC. Juuso Puustinen announced his return to the lineup with a goal - set up by fellow world junior Ivan Rohac - just 60 seconds into the game. Kenton Dulle was credited with the second Blazer goal - on a second-period powerplay - as Mike Gauthier's one-timer off a Jimmy Bubnick pass hit him in the shin pad and in past Mark Friesen. Brandon Campos scored the lone Bruin goal just seconds after a Blazer penalty expired. Final shots were 30-27 Chilliwack with Leclerc getting the win and Friesen taking the loss. The Blazers were 1-for-8 on the PP and 6-for-6 on the PK.
