Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Bakersfield, CA- The Rancho Cucamonga offense got shut down in Bakersfield on Wednesday night, dropping a 6-0 decision to the Blaze at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
Rancho was held to just three hits and sent just 28 men to the plate on Wednesday, one over the minimum, in getting shut out for the third time this year.
Blaze starter Anthony Misiewicz was brilliant, limiting the Quakes to just two hits over 7 2/3 innings. Misiewicz (2-4) utilized three double-plays behind him, facing the minimum until he walked Johan Mieses to end his night after 7 2/3 innings.
Quakes' starter Felipe Gonzalez was dominant in his own right, as he gave the Quakes five strong innings in his first start since joining Rancho Cucamonga. Gonzalez didn't allow a hit until two outs in the fourth, when Austin Wilson singled home a pair of runners to give the Blaze a 2-0 lead.
Alex Burgos struggled out of the Quakes' bullpen, allowing the first six batters he faced to reach to open the sixth, as the Blaze blew it open with a four-run frame to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
The Quakes (30-17) fall into a first-place tie with the High Desert Mavericks, who won on Wednesday in Modesto. Rancho will send Tommy Bergjans (2-3) to the mound on Thursday, against Blaze right-hander Tyler Herb (4-2) at 7:30pm.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Wednesday, June 1st, as they host the Lake Elsinore Storm in the first game of a seven-game home stand. June 1st is another Terra Vista Animal Hospital Bark in the Ballpark, as four-legged friends are welcome at LoanMart Field with the purchase of a $3 Pet Pass. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
