
Blast Defeat Syracuse 22-4

The Blast played host to the Syracuse Silver Knights Saturday night for their fourth and final matchup of the regular season. In a game where offense played a key contributor, the Blast defeated the Silver Knights 22-4 for their 9th win in a row.
The game got off to a fast start with 5 goals in the first quarter. The Blast gained the early lead when Jonathan Melo scored the first goal of the game at the 2:15 mark off an assist from Diego Zuniga. At the 5:18 mark Diego Zuniga scored on a Blast power play to push the lead to 4. Jonathan Melo recorded his second goal of the game at the 6:39 mark before the Silver Knights were able to get on the board with a goal from Anthony Grant. At the 13:55 mark the Blast leading scorer Lucas Roque added another goal to his season total (16) while Diego Zuniga recorded his second assist of the game. The Blast defense held the Silver Knights to only 4 shots in the quarter and led 8-2.
The Blast were able to dominate the second quarter scoring 4 goals on 7 shots while holding the Silver Knights to only 2 shots. At the 4:23 mark max Ferdinand scored for the Blast off an assist from Pat Healey. The Blast lead was extended to 10 after Adriano Dos Santos found the back of the net off an assist from Lucas Roque. The Blast offense stayed hot as Aduato Neto score off an assist from Diego Zuniga, which was Zuniga's third assist of the game. Lucio Gonzaga also recorded a goal for the Blast before the half ended pushing the Blast lead to 16-2.
The Blast maintained control in second half. At the 7:15 mark Levi Houpeau scored his 5th goal of the season. The Silver Knights answered when Anthony Grant recorded his second goal of the game assisted by Domenico Vitale. At the end of the 3rd the Blast led 18-4.
The final quarter began with Pat Healey scoring for the Blast assisted by Vini Dantas extending the Blast lead. At the 3:19 mark Jonathan Melo completed the hat trick for the Blast with a goal assisted by Lucas Roque to seal the Blast victory. The final score was 22-4.
The Blast move to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 against the Silver Knights sweeping the season series. Offensively for the Blast, Jonathan Melo led the way with a hat trick while Diego Zuniga recorded 4 points on 3 assists and a goal. The Blast really showed their team depth with 9 different players recording goals in the game. Defensively Pat Healey recorded 3 blocks on the night while Max Ferdinand and Onua Obasi each had 2. In goal for the Blast William Vanzela recorded 10 saves and remains unbeaten in net this season.
The Blast will travel to Milwaukee next weekend to match up against the Wave. The game is Friday, January 16th at 7:00 p.m.
