Kansas City Comets News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (January 10, 2015) - The Missouri Comets (12-0) demolished the Tulsa Revolution 18-2, the highest-scoring game in team history, on Saturday night at the Independence Events Center in front of 4,476 fans.
Former MLS player Josh Gardner made his debut with the Comets and was named Borden Man of the Match with six points recording a hat trick and three assists. Also, forward Leo Gibson regained the top of the league thanks to his five points (two goals and three assists).
Having dressed only thirteen players with Max Touloute (groin), Ramone Palmer (hamstring) and Coady Andrews (ankle) still recovering from injuries, the Comets did not struggle to remain undefeated.
The reigning MISL Champions started off strong with Gardner scoring the first one of the night and first ever indoor soccer tally shortly after kick off before team captain Vahid Assadpour doubled the lead. However, Tulsa would score before the end of the quarter to make it 2-1.
For the second quarter, Assadpour again along with Sosa and Braithwaite made it 5-1 for the home team before Tulsa Revolution's Lucas Almeida notched his second of the night and the team's last goal of the match.
After the visitor's second tally, the Comets scored thirteen consecutive goals throughout the match to end the contest with a final score of 18-2.
Next up, the Comets will host the I-70 Series part two at the Independence Events Center next Friday when they face off against the St. Louis Ambush.
