
Blast Defeat Milwaukee 9-6

The Blast remain undefeated at home after defeating the Wave 9-6. In front of a crowd of 3,242, Jonatas Melo had two goals for Baltimore.
The Blast got off to a quick start, scoring three unanswered goals in the first quarter. Goals by Elton de Oliveira, Jonatas Melo, and Jamie Thomas gave Baltimore a 3-0 lead after one quarter. Milwaukee answered with two straight goals of their own in the second quarter. Angel Curiel and Daniel Mattos scored for the Wave to cut the Blast lead to 3-2 heading into halftime.
The Blast got off to a quick start in the second half as well, scoring the first two goals of the half. Jereme Raley and Andrew Hoxie scored to give the Blast a 3-goal lead. The teams would then trade goals with each other. Marcio Leite and Ian Bennett scored for Milwaukee and Marco Nascimento and Jonatas Melo scored for Baltimore to give the Blast a 7-4 lead. Daniel Peruzzi scored for the Blast, but Milwaukee answered with two straight goals with the 6th attacker on the field. Goals by Andre Hayne and Max Ferdinand made it interesting, but Baltimore's Juan Pereira added an empty net goal to give the Blast a 9-6 win.
The win snaps a two-game losing streak for the Blast, and is the 10th straight win at home for Baltimore. Both teams were unsuccessful on the power play, each going 0-1. Andre Hoxie and Marco Nascimento each had one goal and one assist, and Vini Dantas recorded two assists for Baltimore. Joey Kapinos recorded 11 saves in the game for the Blast. Daniel Mattos, Max Ferdinand, Ian Bennett, and Marcio Leite each had one goal and one assist for Milwaukee and goalkeeper Josh Lemos had 10 saves in the game.
The Blast are back in action tomorrow, February 24th when they host the Florida Tropics at 6:05 p.m. EST. Tickets can be bought at ticketmaster.com or at the SECU Arena box office.
