Wave Falls to Blast in Final Game of Three-Game Series; Faces Syracuse Sunday Afternoon
February 23, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
After a tough battle, your Six- Time Champion Milwaukee Wave lost against the physical and long-time rival Baltimore Blast Friday night at SECU Arena. This was their second loss to the Blast in the 2017-2018 regular season.
Final score: Milwaukee Wave 6, Baltimore Blast 9.
"I don't think we started the game as well as we could've and we put ourselves in a big hole early on being down 3-0," said Head Coach Giuliano Olivero. "It was a different environment there with a smaller field. Unfortunately, it took us some time to adjust and it's never fun to play from behind. Overall, we played well and did a lot of really good things. Even though it's disappointing, there are positives to take away from this game. I'm glad we got to see this new facility and there is a good chance we'll be coming back here. Tonight we just couldn't get over that hump and take the game from Baltimore."
Milwaukee Wave goals came from Angel "Chino" Curiel, Daniel Mattos, Marcio Leite, Ian Bennett, Andre Hayne, and Max Ferdinand.
With little time to rest, the Milwaukee Wave make their way to Syracuse, New York to face-off against the Silver Knights for the second time this season. The Silver Knights look to continue their three-game winning streak Sunday night.
"Syracuse is a really good team and I think they can give Baltimore trouble in the playoffs," commented Oliviero. "Before we head to Syracuse we're going to analyze the health of some of our players. At this point it's really about getting healthy for the playoffs."
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05 p.m CST from Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
