Florida Tropics SC News Release
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Slim as they may be, the Florida Tropics slim playoff hopes are still alive.
The Tropics allowed two early goals, and then rallied to defeat the Harrisburg Heat 12-9 Friday night in a Major Arena Soccer League eastern division matchup. Florida improved to 10-9 on the season, but one more Florida loss, or Syracuse Silver Knights win, will eliminate the Tropics from the post season. The Tropics have three games left, all on the road, while Syracuse has three games to play as well, two at home and one on the road.
Ricardo Diegues had four goals, as did Mauricio Salles, while Freddy Moojen had three as Florida quickly turned things around after falling behind 2-0 early in the first quarter. Raphel Schlemper had the other Florida marker. Thiago Freitas had three goals for Harrisburg.
Diegues now has 25 goals on the season, a franchise record, while the 12 goals tied a franchise mark for most goals in a game. The Tropics eight goals in the first half tied a team record for most goals in a half as well.
Florida will turn around and travel to Baltimore for a 6:05 p.m. Start Saturday night. Syracuse will play in Harrisburg Saturday night as well.
