Blast Defeat Heat 25-5

On a snowy Saturday night in Baltimore the Blast battled the Harrisburg Heat for their regular season home finale. In a game dominated by the Blast, Baltimore was able to defeat Harrisburg 25-5.

The game got off to a fast start with 4 goals in the first quarter. The Heat got in the board first when Chris Hall recorded a goal off an assist from Casey Lenker. The Blast answered when Jamie Darvill recorded his first goal of the season assisted by Tony Donatelli. Juan Pereira gave the Blast their first lead of the game when he was able to find the back of the net off an assist from Max Ferdinand. Before the end of the first Jamie Darvill was able to net his second goal of the quarter assisted by Jonathan Melo. At the end of the first the Blast led 6-2.

In the second quarter the Blast were able to hit back to back 3 point goals. Drew Ruggles and Diego Zuniga both scored off assists from Pat Healey. Phil Saunders and the Blast defense held the Heat scoreless in the quarter and at the half the Blast were leading the Heat 12-2.

In the second half the Blast were able to build on their lead. Juan Pereira scored at the 2:17 mark off an assist from Pat Healey and then he completed the hat trick at the 6:29 mark off an assist from Phil Saunders putting the Blast up by 14. Also completing the hat trick in the quarter Jamie Darvill recorded his 3rd goal of the night and season assisted by Tony Donatelli. The Blast went into the final quarter leading 18-2.

The offense continued to roll in the fourth quarter. Onua Obasi hit a three point goal at the 3:08 mark assisted by Jerjer Gibson and 28 seconds later Tony Donatelli recorded his second goal of the game off another Phil Saunders assist. This was goalkeeper Phil Saunders' 4th assist in only his second game this season. Jonathan Melo added a goal at the 5:39 mark and the Blast lead by 23. After a late three point goal by the Heat the final score was 25-5.

The Blast move to 16-2 on the season. The Blast were led offensively by Jamie Darvill and Juan Pereira who both recorded hat tricks while Pat Healey recorded 3 assists. The Blast saw goals from 7 different scorers on their way to recording 11 goals and 25 points on the night. The Blast defense recorded 5 blocks and goalkeeper Phil Saunders recorded 7 saves and moves to 2-0 on the season.

The Blast hit the road next weekend for a rematch against the Heat in Harrisburg on February 27th at 7:35p.m. Due to weather conditions of tonight's game the Blast would like to remind fans who purchased tickets to tonight's game will receive a free ticket to the next Blast home playoff game on March 11th. This includes fans who attended the game as well as those who were unable to make it.
