Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, finished its regular season Saturday night falling to the San Diego Sockers, 3-1, at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
The two goal totals matched the season lows for the Fury in goals allowed (three) and goals scored (one), as both teams rested some starters in preparation for the playoffs.
Israel Sesay scored the only goal for Ontario, breaking the shutout with 3:52 remaining in the game. San Diego scored two of its three goals on set plays, as Jeff Hughes scored off a pass from a corner kick with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, while Nick Perera had his free kick bound into the net off the far post.
Piotr Sliwa, making his second appearance for the Fury this season, made 16 saves in the loss. Chris Toth stopped 12 of 13 Ontario shots for the victory for San Diego.
Ontario will open the Major Arena Soccer League playoffs at 3 p.m. March 1 at Citizens Business Bank Arena against the Las Vegas Legends. The winner of the single-elimination game will play San Diego in the division championship game March 7.
Tickets for Sunday's playoff game are on sale now through the Fury's office and at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office, and online at AXS.com.
