Tulsa Loses to St. Louis, Home Sunday

Tulsa got some great offensive production Friday night, but it still wasn't enough to get past the much improved St. Louis Ambush team. St. Louis won the Major Arena Soccer League match, 14-9, at the Expo Square Pavilion.

Tulsa will visit Wichita on Saturday, to take on the B-52s with a 7:05 p.m. kickoff. Wichita then makes the trip to Tulsa on Sunday for the Revolution's final game of the season at 3:05 p.m., at the Pavilion.

Friday night's game was delayed about 30 minutes, as the Ambush (7-12) arrived late due to mechanical problems with the team's bus. However, just 17 seconds after kickoff Richard Schmermund scored the first goal of the game for St. Louis. Schmermund scored again in the first period, and the Ambush also got goals from Odaine Sinclair, Kory Dowell and a pair of goalf from Gordy Gurson.

Dave Leung scored first for the Revolution, early in the quarter, and Tulsa (2-16) also got goals from Bryant Scrapper and Bruno Simoes. St. Louis led 6-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams played even in the second quarter, scoring three goals each. Lucas Almeida scored twice for the Revolution and Lucas Carvalho added a goal. For St. Louis, Sinclair netted his second of the game while Greg Kranz and Blake Ordell each scored once. St. Louis led 9-6 at the half.

Again the third quarter was even for the two sides, as Tulsa kept St. Louis within striking distance. Tulsa's Cedric Lusuli scored and then Almeida completed the hat trick with his third of the night. For the Ambush, Ordell and Dowell each scored the second goals of the night. St. Louis led 11-8 at the end of the third quarter.

St. Louis increased their lead early in the fourth quarter with a goal by Elvir Kafedzic, then he scored again with a restart goal less than two minutes later. Dowell completed his hat trick with his third goal of the night at 9:11 to increase the Ambush lead to 14-8. Tulsa continued to battle, as Almeida scored his fourth of the match at 13:27, but time ran out on the Revolution and the Ambush went away with the win, 14-9.

Ambush goalkeeper Alan Hagerty made 11 saves on 20 save opportunities on the way to his second win of the season. Revolution goalkeeper Habib Zaylaa saved seven in 21 chances.

The Ambush also swept their three-game season series against the Revolution.
