Ontario Fury News Release

The Tacoma Stars came into Toyota Arena on Monday night and scored the game's first goal just 3:35 into the game. Then the Stars scored the game's final goal, with 5:59 to go.

Everything in between was all Ontario Fury.

The Fury scored eight consecutive goals, including a six-goal outburst in the second quarter to beat the visiting Stars 8-2 to win back-to-back games for the third time this season.

Micheal Ramos opened the scoring for the Stars, converting a pass from Logan Jones to give the visitors a quick lead in their second game of a back-to-back. And it stayed that way until the final minute of the quarter.

Franck Tayou drew a foul with 26 seconds left in the quarter just outside of Tacoma's defensive zone. On the ensuing free kick, Thiago Goncalves sent a pass across the field to Jesus Pacheco, who took the pass in stride and fired it far post past Tacoma goalkeeper Danny Waltman to send the teams to the first break tied at 1.

From there, it was all Fury, as Ontario put pressure on the tired Stars. Tayou set up the next goal, taking a pass off the boards with his back to the goal and he flicked the ball in the air with his back heel, and Christian Alvarado ran onto it and headed it in for his first goal of the season and the lead.

Pacheco picked up his second of the game about a minute later. Alan Perez took the ball into the Tacoma end, and had the ball bound away off a pair of Tacoma defender. Pacheco picked up the loose ball, made a move and slotted it home and a 3-1 lead.

Just under two minutes later, it was Tayou's turn to find the back of the net, taking a pass from Jorge Deleon to make it 4-1. Then a defensive miscue started a run of three goals in 1:32 for the Fury. Abdul Mansaray chased down an errant pass back to Waltman and beat the goalie with a quick shot to make it 5-1.

That set up a pair of goals in 18 seconds - the second fastest two goals in team history. Perez picked up his first of the season, finishing a pass from Pacheco. Then, Chris Toth sent a long ball that Alvarado ran down and fired past Waltman, giving the Fury a 7-1 lead at the half.

When Toth wasn't setting up goals, he was stopping Tacoma shots. The Fury goalkeeper punched away several Tacoma opportunities, making 17 saves on the 19 shots he faced. The Fury defense, meanwhile, blocked another seven Tacoma shots, with Juan Topete stepping in front of three.

The Fury have two more games left on this six-game stretch at Toyota Arena. The next challenge will see the San Diego Sockers return to Ontario for the final time this season Tuesday, Feb. 15. Tickets for the 7 p.m. kickoff are on sale now at the Toyota Arena box office and online through OntarioFury.com.
