Blast Defeat Ambush 6-1

The Blast traveled to St. Louis on Saturday night for a matchup against the Ambush. In the first meeting of the teams this season the Blast were victorious, defeating the Ambush 6-1 to improve to 12-1 on the season.

The Blast wasted no time finding the back of the net when just :09 seconds into the game Lucas Roque gave the Blast the lead with his 11th goal of the year off an assist from Tony Donatelli. This would be the only goal scored in the quarter as the Blast defense held the Ambush to only 5 shots while Pat Healey and Uzi Tayou recorded blocks in front of goalkeeper William Vanzela, who recorded 5 saves.

The Blast offense came out aggressive in the second quarter with 4 goals scored. Tony Donatelli recorded his 11th goal of the season at the 2:15 mark and moments later Jinho Kim extended the Blast lead to 3 off an assist from Jonatas Melo. Kim would then assist Jeremy Ortiz on his 2nd goal of the season and before the end of the half Andrew Hoxie added to the Blast lead with his 11th goal of the season assisted by Tony Donatelli. At the half the Blast led 5-0.

The Blast would continue to control possession and play solid defense during the second half. Tony Donatelli recorded his second goal of the game at the 7:16 mark for the only goal in the quarter and his 12th of the season. The Blast entered the final quarter leading 6-0.

During the fourth quarter the Ambush would get a goal in the final minute of the game from Victor France but it was the only one the Blast defense would allow. The final score was Blast 6 Ambush 1.

The Blast improve to 12-1 on the season. The Blast were led offensively by Tony Donatelli who recorded 2 goals and 2 assists on the night and Jonatas Melo who added 2 assists. Defensively, the Blast recorded 7 blocks on the night and held the Ambush to only 17 shots. Goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 9 saves in the victory. The Blast will be back in action tomorrow evening when they face-off against the Missouri Comets. Kickoff is at 4:05p.m. EST from the Silverstein Arena.
