The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored three goals in 1:01 during a four-on-four manpower situation in the third period to turn a one-goal advantage into a four-goal advantage as they beat the Sacramento Surge 10-4 Friday in front of 4,052 at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
The Surge, who entered the game 1-11, held the Fury to just two goals in the first half, as goaltender Emanuel Lopez made 15 saves in the first 30 minutes. But the Surge replaced Lopez in the second half with Chris Welch, who faced another 25 shots from the Fury offense.
Mauricio Salles helped break open the game for the Fury, scoring twice in 38 seconds during the four-on-four. Twenty seconds after Salles' second goal, Tino Nunez scored his second of four goals on the game on a feed from Israel Sesay to make the game 5-1. Kiley Couch closed out the scoring in the third, converting on a pass from Tiguniho, giving the Fury a 6-1 lead after three periods.
Sacramento would not go down quietly, as it scored twice in the first 1:46 of the fourth quarter, as Jesus Valenzuela and Matt Germain put the ball past Fury goalkeeper Sanaldo.
But Ontario finished the fourth strong, as Couch scored his second of the game, and Sesay scored, and Nunez finished off his big night.
The Fury offense peppered the Sacramento goal all night, finishing with 54 attempts at the goal (42 on goal), while only allowing the Surge eight shots on goal (on 11 directed on net).
