St. Louis Ambush News Release
St. Charles, MO - Prior to Saturday night, the St. Louis Ambush and the Baltimore Blast had not crossed paths in two years. When the Blast came to the Family Arena Saturday, one thing had not changed during those two years; they are still one of the elite teams in professional indoor soccer.
The Blast defeated the Ambush 6-1 and dominated the game from the first kick until the final minute of the match. Baltimore scored six consecutive goals with contributions from Juan Pereira, Jinho Kim, Jeremy Ortiz, Andrew Hoxie, and two from Tony Donatelli. The only sign of life in the Ambush offense came from rookie midfielder Victor France at 14:09 of the fourth quarter. Playing in his second game, France scored his first goal off a pass from Elvir Kafedzic.
The win improved Baltimore's record to 12-1, while dropping St. Louis' record to 2-12. Officials handed out 13 fouls to Baltimore, while St. Louis collected seven. Neither team was charged with any penalty minutes. William Vanzela made 9 saves on 10 save attempts in goal for the Blast, while Piotr Sliwa saved 17 on 23 attempts.
The Ambush will take to the road for two games when they visit the Tacoma Stars on February 5 and the Cedar Rapids Rampage on February 13. The Ambush return home to the Family Arena when they host the Waza Flo on Friday, February 19 at 7:35 p.m.
Group and single game tickets are now on sale for all remaining home games. Call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363 for more information.
