
Chicago Mustangs Come from Behind to Defeat Syracuse Silver Knights, 11-7

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.MASLSoccer.com), come from behind to defeat the Syracuse Silver Knights 11-7 on January 30th.
The game starts with the Syracuse Silver Knights scoring their first goal 10 seconds into the first quarter. At 3:46, the Knights get another one past Mustangs goalkeeper Jesus Flores, 0-2. The Mustangs regroup and Luis "Peewee" Ortega picks up a loose ball and buries it in the net, 1-2. With renewed energy from "Peewee's" goal, the Mustangs display strong defense and create good opportunities. The quarter ends with the Mustangs down, 1-2.
The second quarter starts with Mustangs Luis "Peewee" Ortega as the sixth attacker. At 2:25, the Knights score their third goal of the night, 1-3. Mustangs "Peewee" gets his second goal of the night at 5:45 off a give-and-go with Osvaldo "Rojas" Rivera, 2-3. At 9:39, the Knights find the back of the net, 2-4. The Mustangs respond at 9:49 with Robert Gunderson scoring his first MASL goal, assisted by Osvaldo Rojas Rivera, 3-4. The Knights are able to score a counter attack goal and the quarter ends with the Mustangs down, 3-5.
The Chicago Mustangs return from halftime strong with Robert Gunderson scoring his second goal of the night 9 seconds into the quarter with a left-footed half volley, 4-5. The Mustangs continue the quarter with good ball control and defense. At 10:56, Mustangs Ricardo Carvalho strikes an absolute bomb off a bounce, 5-5. With one second left in the quarter, the Knights score a goal and the third quarter ends with Syracuse up by one, 5-6.
The Mustangs start the fourth quarter putting pressure on the Knights with Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista scoring his first goal of the night at 2:16, 6-6. At 2:56, Robert Gunderson gets a hat trick giving the Mustangs the lead, 7-6. At 4:37, "Bofo" scores his second goal, assisted by Jesus Flores, 8-6. The Mustangs put another one on the scoreboard with Miguel Vaca striking the ball into the lower left-hand corner of the goal after a beautiful cutback, 9-6. At 7:24, Mustangs Mario Alvarez takes the ball from midfield and finds the far side netting with a beautiful shot, 10-6. Still playing strong, Mustangs Edwin "Rojas" Leon puts one in the back of the net, assisted by Jesus Flores, 11-6. At 13:34, the Knights find the goal and the game ends with the Mustangs winning 11-7.
