
Blash Wins Home Run Crown in Bees Loss

SALT LAKE CITY - The Fresno Grizzlies scored a run in the top of the tenth inning to defeat the Salt Lake Bees 7-6 in the final game of 2018 season.
The Bees held a 4-2 advantage after seven innings, but Fresno was able to strike for four runs to take the lead. In the bottom half of the inning Jabari Blash hit a two-run homer to tie the game, where it would remained tied until extra innings. In the 10th Bees reliever Blake Smith retired all three batters he faced, but the Grizzlies were able to score the extra innings runner from second base. The Bees loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th but could not bring the tying run home.
The home run for Blash gave him 29 on the season for the Bees, clinching the Pacific Coast League home run crown. Blash is the first Bee to win the PCL home run title since Mark Trumbo in 2010 with 36. Michael Hermosillo also homered for the Bees for his 12th of the season. As a team the Bees finished with 173 home runs on the season, the most in the PCL and the second-highest total in franchise history. Salt Lake also led all of Minor League Baseball in average, hits and total bases while finishing second in runs scored and third in home runs. The Bees finish the season with a 71-68 record, second in the Pacific Southern division and a second-straight winning campaign.
The Bees will take the winter off before beginning the 2019 campaign on Thursday, April 4 at Albuquerque.
