Halifax Mooseheads News Release
The Halifax Mooseheads couldn't get much going in Cape Breton on Friday night in a 3-nothing shutout loss to the Eagles. Mathis Rousseau stopped 26 shots as the Herd were blanked for the first time this season.
Antoine Roy's first period goal was the only offense needed while Brayden Schmitt and Cam Squires added insurance as Cape Breton scored once in each period. Goalie Jakub Milota earned the first star with a 20 save performance.
The Mooseheads have dropped two in a row to start the weekend, which began with a 4-3 overtime defeat at home against Baie-Comeau on Thursday. The record sits at 18-5-2-0 on the season. Halifax had a brief scare late in the game when star forward Jordan Dumais was knocked down in front of the net and limped off the ice and straight down the tunnel with Athletic Therapist Melanie Landry. Fortunately, the Blue Jackets prospect was back on the ice rather quickly after being reassessed in the room.
Both teams went scoreless on four power play attempts while Cape Breton outhit the Moose 20-9.
Halifax continues a road trip on Sunday afternoon in Moncton when they face the Wildcats at 4pm before making a road trip through Blainville-Boisbriand, Val d'Or and Rouyn-Noranda next week. The next home game for the Herd is Thursday, December 7th against Drummondville. Halifax will also host Bathurst on Friday, December 8th. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca.
