NOTES FROM THE GAME

- Jakob Milota recorded his first career shutout as the Cape Breton Eagles blanked the Halifax Mooseheads 3-0 in front of over 4000 fans at Centre 200 on CBU Night.

- The Eagles scored one in each period- Antoine Roy in the first, Brayden Schmitt in the second, and Cam Squires in the third period. Schmitt & Squires also each added an assist.

- It was the first shutout loss the Mooseheads suffered all season, and the first time reigning CHL scoring champion Jordan Dumais was held off the scoresheet this season.

- Milota stopped all 20 shots in the win, while Mathis Rousseau stopped 26 of 29 in the loss.

Chances were tough to come by in opening period as shots were just 7-5 in favour of Halifax. Roy opened the scoring at the 15:09 mark with a shot from the left faceoff circle and the Eagles took the lead to the intermission.

Scmitt's goal came 48 seconds after the halfway mark of regulation- a shot through heavy traffic in front of the net. The Eagles thought they had made it 3-0 on a would be Roy second goal, but it was disallowed due to goaltender interference.

After outshooting Halifax in the second period, the Eagles outshot the Mooseheads again in the third, 11-8, and Squires late marker salted the game in the final three minutes. Squires converted a pass from Callum Aucoin from behind the net and made it 3-0.

The Eagles are back at it tomorrow at a special start time of 4 PM as they host NY Islanders draft pick Justin Gill and the league leading Baie-Comeau Drakkar! It's the only visit the Drakkar will make to Sydney this season. The Eagles will also be debuting their new third gold jersey! It's Student Saturday at the Nest, as tickets are $7 for those 18 and under.

Tickets can be purchased at https://shorturl.at/bpPTW. They are also available for purchase in person at the Centre 200 box office and by the phone during box office hours at 902-564-2200
