After a spectacular Corey Crawford Jersey Retirement Ceremony, the Wildcats flew into a 3-0 first period lead and prevailed over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, the top team in the Western Conference, winning 6-5 at Avenir Centre before 5,300 enthusiastic fans on Friday night.
Thomas Auger led the way with two goals (5th, 6th) and was selected First Star for his efforts. Rounding out the Cats scoring were Vincent Collard (14th), Preston Lounsbury (9th), Miles Müller (10th) and Alex Mercier (7th). Adding two assists each were Etienne Morin, Caleb Desnoyers, Natan Grenier and Yoan Loshing.

The win was Moncton's 4th in a row and moved the club to a 17-5-1-1 record, just 2 points shy of the first-place Mooseheads in the Maritime Division. Halifax was blanked 3-0 in Cape Breton last night. The homestand continues Sunday afternoon when the Maritime Division leaders square off on Sunday Funday at 4pm at the Avenir Centre.

Next week, the Wildcats host Saint John Thursday night at 7pm in the Hockey Fights Cancer game, featuring lavender jerseys, and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens Saturday at 7pm.
