KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a series of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to this evening's series finale against the Huntsville Stars at Smokies Stadium.

Right-handed reliever Blake Cooper has been acquired by the Cubs organization via a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for former Smokies outfielder Brett Jackson, and assigned to the Smokies roster. In 24 outings with the BayBears this season, Cooper compiled a 3-2 mark and 1.85 ERA (7 ER in 34.0 IP).

In a corresponding move, catcher Luis Flores has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to August 14. The 27-year-old has recorded a .273 average (27-99), adding three homers and 13 RBI in his 31 contests with the Smokies this season.

The Smokies are set to face off against the Huntsville Stars, the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, in their series finale tonight at Smokies Stadium. Tennessee is slated to give the nod to RHP Ivan Pineyro (0-2, 4.30), while Huntsville is scheduled to send LHP Brent Suter (10-8, 4.07) to the mound. First pitch is set for 6:15 p.m.
