JACKSON, TENN. - The Birmingham Barons (26-29, 55-70) earned a series split with the Generals (25-30, 56-68) after a 6-5 victory on Saturday. Jackson was again stymied by a great pitching performance from Barons' starter Myles Jaye (4-10, 5.61), who picked up the win in 8.0 innings of work, allowed only two runs on four hits. The loss was Jackson's third straight after winning the first three in the set.

The Generals made it interesting with a ninth inning rally, but in the end the hill was too much to climb. With the loss the Generals fall to a tie for fourth in the division, four games behind the Tennessee Smokies.

Birmingham scored first as Chris Curley crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Kevan Smith and the lead was 1-0 after an inning.

The Barons added another in the third as Trayce Thompson led off with a double and Curley followed by doubling him home and the lead ballooned to 2-0.

Jackson came back in the bottom half of the third as Patrick Brady (1x3, R, RBI) homered with two outs to cut the lead in half. Leon Landry (1x3, 2 R, BB) followed with his seventh triple of the season and came across to tie the game when Tyler Smith doubled. That tied the game at 2-2 after three, but the joy was short lived for the Generals fans.

Two innings later Curley hit a solo home run to give his team the lead back 3-2. Then Dan Black and Ragel Ravelo followed with back-to-back doubles. Ravelo's hit scored Black, and Ravelo came home on a base hit from Kevan Smith to extend the lead to 5-2 for Birmingham.

In the seventh, another run scored for the Barons as Ravelo earned another RBI single to bring home Thompson and the lead grew even more to 6-2.

Jackson made things interesting in the ninth as Pat Kivlehan (1x4, R, 2 RBI) hit a two-run double that scored Landry and D.J. Peterson (0x3, R). After a strikeout, Dario Pizzano (1x4, RBI) doubled in Kivlehan and the lead shrunk to just one at 6-5. But, Steve Baron (1x4) grounded out to end the game, and the Generals fell 6-5.

Tyler Pike (3-3, 7.65) suffered the loss for Jackson as he allowed five runs on eight hits and also walked two in 5.0 innings. He worked around some trouble early, but the Barons big three-run fifth got to Pike.

The Generals will head back on the road Sunday to Huntsville to begin a five-game set with the Stars, Jackson's final trip to Joe Davis Stadium. Cam Hobson (8-9, 3.97) will make the start for Jackson as Huntsville will send Drew Gagnon (9-6, 4.36) to the mound. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
