Smokies Run Away from Stars

Kodak, TN-The Tennessee Smokies erupted late against the Huntsville Stars bullpen and ran away with a 12-5 win Saturday night at Smokies Park. The Smokies claimed four out of five from the Stars.

The Stars were leading 5-4 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Stars reliever Tim Dillard(5-3) then gave up a double to Addison Russell. Christian Villanueva followed with a game tying rbi single into left knotting the game at 5-5.

The Smokies took over for good in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded and one out, Dillard walked pinch hitter Lars Anderson giving the Smokies a 6-5 lead.

David Goforth then came into the game out of the Stars bullpen. Jae Hoon Ha greeted him with a two-run double down the right field line making it 8-5.

Albert Almora followed with a two-run double adding to the Smokies 10-5 lead.

The Smokies were not finished. Russell added an rbi single against Goforth and Taylor Davis capped off the seven run eighth with an rbi single.

Dillard, who suffered the loss out of the Stars bullpen went 1.1 innings and allowed three hits on five runs.

The Stars only lead off the game was after Hector Giminez hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth giving the Stars a 5-4 lead.

Erik Komatsu also homered in the Stars loss. It was a solo shot in the second inning, his second of the season.

Josh Prince led the Stars offense with three hits. The Stars, who have lost four in a row completed their ten game roadtrip with a 5-5 record.

The Stars(25-30, 71-54) return to Huntsville Sunday to begin a series with the Jackson Generals, the Double-A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. RHP Drew Gagnon(10-6, 3.70) will take the mound for Huntsville. Jackson will send LHP Cam Hobson(8-9, 3.97) to the hill.
